An estimated 150,000 Malaysian drivers, representing about 8.8% of the 1.7 million eligible for the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) subsidy, risk missing out on the fuel aid due to outdated MyKad information on their driving licences.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will facilitate a nationwide update process to ensure all eligible citizens can benefit from the targeted subsidy.

In a recent statement, Minister Loke highlighted that many driving licences still bear old 12-digit MyKad numbers, preventing a seamless match with the Budi Madani database. To rectify this, JPJ will open special counters at all its branches for individuals to update their MyKad details on their driving licences free of charge. Motorists are required to be physically present for biometric thumbprint verification.

"This initiative is crucial to ensure that the Budi Madani subsidy reaches its intended recipients. We urge all motorists who have not updated their MyKad information on their driving licences to do so immediately," said Loke.
