Resilience on the racetrack: Motorist racing hard - fought battle at the Songkhla Grand Prix
The world of motorsport is a high-octane blend of skill, speed, and sheer unpredictability. Last weekend, the Motorist Racing Department experienced this firsthand at the PT Songkhla Grand Prix in Thailand.
The final round of the PT Maxnitron Racing Series was a true test of character for the team and driver Aiden Chong. While the weekend was fraught with challenges, it highlighted a core value we live by: resilience.

A Debut Defined by Difficulty
For Motorist's resident driver, Aiden Chong, the event was a trial by fire. It was his debut in the series, his first time driving the demanding Songkhla street circuit, and his first time piloting the Honda One Make Race (HOMR) category's Honda City Hatchback.
The challenges began almost immediately. Valuable practice time was cut short by a boost leak in one session and a blown engine in another. This lack of track time is a massive hurdle on any circuit, but especially on an unforgiving street course.
The mechanical woes continued into qualifying. With the engine replacement incomplete, Aiden was forced to start the weekend's first race from the back of the grid in 10th place.

Racing Against the Odds: Race 1 & 2 Breakdown
The team's fighting spirit was immediately put to the test.
Race 1: A technical gremlin caused the car to fail on the dummy grid, forcing a pit lane start—a huge disadvantage. Despite this, Aiden showcased the team's true potential, carving through the field with pace matching the front-runners. He climbed to a remarkable 7th place before a safety car neutralized the race, freezing the positions to the finish line.
Race 2: Hopes were high for the second race. Thanks to his fast lap in Race 1, Aiden secured a promising 5th-place start. However, as the lights went out, disaster struck. The driveshaft broke on the starting line. The team worked frantically to repair the car, but by the time Aiden rejoined, he was three laps down, his hopes for a podium dashed.
Despite the heartbreaking outcome, the data told a different story: Aiden's lap times, when he was running, were once again on par with the race leaders. The potential was clear, even if the results didn't reflect it.

Pace, Potential, and Passion
This "difficult weekend" at the Songkhla Grand Prix wasn't about trophies. It was about pushing the limits, gathering data, and demonstrating unwavering persistence. The mechanical failures were frustrating, but they couldn't mask the driver's skill or the team's commitment. The Motorist Racing Department, proudly flying the Motorist Thailand branding, showed pace and potential, and the team is already aiming for a strong comeback in the 2026 season.
