The collaboration with the existing local EV charging company, JomCharge, will allow BMW customers access to 100 conveniently located charging stations across Malaysia.

The rise in popularity of electric vehicles (or EVs) does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon, especially with the Malaysian government announcing back in September that they will be extending import and excise duty exemptions for EVs till the end of 2024. Additionally, there will be a waiver of the approved permit fee until the end of next year, allowing companies to keep EVs at an affordable price and consequentially making them a favourable option in today's vehicle market.

BMW's latest deal with JomCharge can be seen as a company's adaptation to changes in market trends. The 100 charging stations available for BMW customers now will only make BMW's current and future EVs seem more desirable while helping their current EV customers alleviate any 'range anxieties' that they may have.

In a statement by BMW Group Malaysia's communications chief Sashi Ambi, he states that this partnership shows BMW's intent to 'partner with industry leaders in the charging infrastructure industry' which is essential in their strategy to strengthen their position in Malaysia's 'electromobility' segment.
