SINGAPORE, [6 March 2024] – Motorist, a leader in automotive technology solutions, has contributed to female empowerment in Singapore’s increasingly important digital sector by appointing Ms Angela Poh as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the company, with effect from 1 March 2024.

With International Women’s Day on March 8, this promotion of a capable female executive in a fast-growing Singapore company is both timely and positive. It demonstrates how women are advancing in their chosen careers, on top of all their other accomplishments as men’s equals in family units, community groups, and society as a whole.

This appointment of Ms Poh to the senior management post of Motorist second-in-command is also in line with the White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development, which calls for our workplaces to reflect our nation’s societal values of fairness, inclusivity and progressivity. Ms Poh now joins the ranks of women in Singapore with leadership roles - 13.1% of Singapore companies in 2021 were helmed by a female chief executive officer, which is the highest share globally, according to a Deloitte report.

Ms Poh has been the Chief Revenue Officer managing the revenue streams of Motorist, which is in the top 100 list of Singapore’s fastest-growing companies (based on revenue growth from 2019 to 2022) compiled by The Straits Times and Germany-based global research firm Statista. Motorist has been in the list for three consecutive years.

The successful digital startup is currently operational in Singapore (headquarters), Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Motorist Deputy CEO, Ms Angela Poh, said: “I feel excited about my new role as Deputy CEO of Motorist and will make the most of this opportunity. As the newly appointed co-driver of the company, I will do my best together with all my colleagues to grow the business further, not only in Singapore where it all began nine years ago, but also in our other ASEAN markets.”

Motorist CEO, Mr Damian Sia, added: “Angela’s well-earned promotion would allow me to focus more on the regional expansion of Motorist. We aim to bring our super app and comprehensive automotive services to six more countries by 2026, starting with the Philippines.“

Prior to joining Motorist, Ms Poh was with American Express for over 15 years. Her last role there was in business development, overseeing regional commercial payments. She has a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Australia’s Murdoch University. Ms Poh is married with two kids.

Motorist's goal is clear: to be the driving force in reshaping automotive experiences globally. With a current valuation at $60 million USD, and an eye towards boosting its financing business, Motorist is not just growing; it's evolving to meet and exceed the dynamic needs of the automotive market.
