Raya revelry: customers splurge rm5k daily to rent luxury cars like Porsche, Lamborghini

Despite economic challenges, the car rental industry is experiencing high demand this festive season, with customers willing to pay up to RM5,000 per day for luxury vehicle rentals. 

Hafiz Johari, owner of Dino Car Rental, started the venture with seven partners after closing his electrical company due to the pandemic. Initially offering his personal vehicles for rent, he expanded to include chauffeur-driven options.

Dino Car Rental offers six categories of rentals ranging from RM100 to RM5,000 per day to cater to a diverse clientele. During the festive season, demand spans across all segments, with Toyota Vellfire and Toyota Alphard being the most sought-after options due to their comfort and capacity for large families. Urban migrants prefer affordable local cars like the Bezza, Axia, Myvi, and Alza, while some customers prioritize style and are willing to pay premium prices for luxury vehicles such as Ford Mustang, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsches, and Lamborghinis.

Longer booking durations, extending up to a month, are common for individuals returning for festive holidays, with all vehicles in Dino Car Rental's fleet fully booked for Hari Raya.
