Essential Safety Tips for Motorist Malaysia
Motorist Malaysia, your safety is paramount. When navigating the severe weather and traffic conditions in Shah Alam and surrounding Selangor areas, please adhere to the following critical advice:
Use Alternative Routes: Avoid all closed roads and plan your journey using higher, non-flood-prone routes. Prioritise known alternative paths until the water recedes and roads are declared safe.
Exercise Extreme Caution: If you must drive near flooded areas, drive slowly, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and be aware of hidden debris or damaged road surfaces under the water.
Never Drive Through Floodwaters: If the water level covers your car's wheel hub or reaches the exhaust pipe, DO NOT attempt to drive through it. Just six inches of fast-moving water can sweep away a person, and two feet of water can float and carry away most vehicles.
Comply with Authorities: Always follow the instructions and directives given by the police and MBSA personnel on the ground. Road closures are implemented for your protection.
Stay Informed: Keep radios tuned to local news or monitor reliable traffic apps for real-time updates on road conditions and weather warnings from MetMalaysia.
For Emergency Assistance:Residents requiring immediate flood-related assistance should contact MBSA’s Pantas Team directly at 03-55105811.
