Over 600 Summons Dished Out in JPJ Operation

Operasi Bersepadu covered 1,112 vehicles passing through Awan Besar toll plaza on Wednesday night, dishing out summons to more than a third of them.

The operation involved a total of 183 officers from various enforcement and government agencies, namely, JPJ, PDRM, the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Department of Environment (JAS), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM), the immigration department, Puspakom and Kesas Highway.

Of the 1,112 vehicles checked, 401 vehicles were found to have committed various offences with a total of 632 summons being meted out. The offences included driving without a licence, overloading, driving with an expired driving licence or road tax and more.

During Operasi Bersepadu, 32 summons were also issued by the police with 12 foreigners being taken into custody by the immigration department while eight loud vehicles were booked by JAS. AADK has also caught six offenders in this mega roadblock which lasted 3 hours, from 9 pm to midnight.

JPJ has advised motorists and vehicle owners to ensure that their road tax and licence are still valid and to always adhere to the road rules listed under the Road Transport Act 1987.
