With the opening of a new location in Sunway Carnival, Seberang Perai in Penang, the number of Tesla Supercharger stations in Malaysia has reached eight.

This addition complements the existing 12 Destination Chargers situated at The Ship Campus in Batu Kawan and All Seasons Place in George Town on the island.

The new facility boasts four V3 DC fast chargers, bringing the total count of Superchargers in Malaysia to 40, while the number of Destination Chargers has increased to 61 across ten locations. The outdoor car park hosting the Superchargers operates round the clock, charging RM5 per hour from 9 am to 2 am.

Similar to other Supercharger stations, the charging rate at Sunway Carnival is RM1.25 per kWh, with an additional idle fee of RM4 per minute when the station is fully occupied to deter prolonged occupancy. Both Superchargers and Destination Chargers are currently free to utilise Tesla's user-friendly "plug-in, charge and go" system. Users simply need to register their payment method in the Tesla app, and charging will begin automatically upon plugging in.

The Sunway Carnival Supercharger station marks the first of five new charging locations scheduled to be operational in Malaysia in the second quarter of the year. The upcoming sites include a Supercharger in Kuantan and two charging stations in Kuala Lumpur, with an additional one planned for Putrajaya.
