To make entering Singapore more convenient for foreign-registered vehicles, authorities there will be providing drivers with more digital services than before.

Announced by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Wednesday (29 May), owners of foreign vehicles will be able to login into the One.Motoring website to, among other things, apply for goods vehicle permits and update their vehicle records.

The move, that will take effect from June 3, aims to shorten waiting times, increase convenience and operational efficiency for foreign vehicle owners.

Currently, goods vehicles registered in ASEAN countries need to have a valid ASEAN Goods Vehicle Permit (GVP) before entering Singapore. Thus, vehicle owners personally have to bring their hardcopy applications to LTA’s Customer Service Centre at Sin Ming Drive before they are allowed to drive their goods vehicles in.

From June 3 onwards, vehicle owners will be able to apply online for a GVP on the One.Motoring website a week before entering Singapore. The owner may collect and make payment for their GVP/Autopass Card at LTA’s Customer Service Centre once the online applications have been approved.

Also, from June 3 onwards, foreign-registered car and motorcycle owners will be offered the option of updating their vehicles’ road tax and insurance validity dates online whenever they want. This would mean that such owners won’t need to personally present their hardcopy documents at LTA’s checkpoint offices anymore.

A week before entering Singapore, foreign drivers should submit their vehicle ownership certificate, road tax and insurance documents on the One.Motoring website to ensure a proper update of their vehicle records. When LTA verifies their documents, the drivers’ records will be automatically updated in the system.

The new digital services mentioned above follow the launch of the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) Digital Service on 26 November 2018. The service would allow owners of foreign-registered cars and motorcycles to apply for a VEP/Autopass Card online through the One.Motoring website before entering Singapore.

Also, later this year, online payment and delivery of VEP/Autopass cards will be offered to foreign drivers for greater convenience.

When entering and departing Singapore, drivers of foreign-registered vehicles need to insert their Autopass cards into the card readers at the immigration booths to pay the VEP fees and other relevant charges.

More digital services, such as online application for ASEAN Public Service Vehicle Permit, will be made available in the second half of the year.

For more information on how to use the digital services, drivers can refer to the video guides available on the One.Motoring website.

Those who require internet access or assistance using the One.Motoring website may approach LTA’s Johor Bahru service centre located at 34, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak Susur 1, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia.
